Boredom is a creative person’s worst enemy…or best friend. Some people when they get bored don’t know what to do with themselves, but with Wendi and I, we tend to take that energy and turn it around into something productive.
What is boredom anyway? Usually, it’s a feeling you can’t put a finger on. You’re restless, yet you don’t want to do anything. Sometimes boredom goes hand in hand with overwhelm. You’ve got so many projects you don’t know where to start, so you do nothing at all.
Other times, you’ve taken a project as far as it will go and you realize that suddenly it’s no fun anymore. It’s gone stale, bogged down in routine and predictability.
Boredom is nothing more than a signal for change. You need a fresh, new direction to get your spark back.
This happened with our ezine, The Inspired Studio. We got to a point where we felt limited by the medium. There’s only so much we could cram into an email. We wanted to expand, give our audience more.
Our boredom led to a new adventure, one that expands our scope and offers more involvement from our audience. What we came up with was an online magazine we call The Inspired Artist Studio. We also decided to expand The Inspired Studio ezine into a second magazine called The Creativepreneur Studio, due out sometime later this month.
We want to help you combat your boredom too! If you’re a writer and want to get your short stories, articles and poems published with no strings attached, check out our submission guidelines.
Not a writer? Perhaps you’re a painter, illustrator or photographer. Send us your artwork! We’d love to include you in the Inspired Gallery, or select you for an interview in our Inspired Artist Spotlight.
For The Creativepreneur Studio, we want to hear about your businesses an experiences as a creative entrepreneur. What is/was it like for you to get started with your business? What information would you like to share with your peers? Let us know!
Check out our premiere issue of The Inspired Artist Studio below (just click on the image in the post to read).
Can’t you just feel all that creativity bubbling up? There’s nothing like being in the studio, surrounded by other people’s creativity to spark your own.
